RE: Needing some trading advice

You are confusing the deal, and you really don't know if it is a good deal or not. Negotiate the price of the new unit without mentioning the trade. If asked, just say no trade. Then after you get a final price on the new unit, then negotiate the price of the used unit. The process will take about two weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Warranty Repairs.....Who Pays?

I would argue that they accepted the repair with the understanding it was warranty work for which they would be paid by the manufacturer with whom they already made prior arrangements and accepted the work on that condition.

RE: Exceeding hitch weight?

That is way too much trailer for your truck, and you will be exceeding the hitch weight BEFORE anything is added to the trailer and anything to the tongue like propane and battery(s). To compound the problem, almost always, those posted "dry" weights from the manufacturer are low, way low, beciase they often do not include options, even mandatory options, like awnings, air conditioners, etc. Why not get the dealer to deliver the trailer, then you don't have to buy a hitch, brkae controller, etc. I bet the cost of those items would closely equal the cost of delivery, especially if you make that a condition of sale. Remember, except for fuel and any per diem expenses the dealer pays his staff to deliver, he has no other real costs.

RE: Need battery help.

So what do i replace them with ??? . New ones!!!!!! Seriously, if you have room for two 6 volt batteries, then that is your best bet. If you have room for only one, then get a 12 volt true deep cycle. Any battery that lists Cold Cranking Amps or Marine as a rating is a combination deep cycle and starting battery and will not give as good a service.

RE: Georgia Coastal State Parks

The mosquitos and no-see-ums will only be out ocassionally and then during the warmer periods. Generally, the weather will be cool, requiring a light jacket and sometimes even a heavier coat. Of course the bug situation depends greatly on the specific area since it really is terrain dependent. You would be well served in talking directly to the individual park where you are considering volunteering so that you know EXACTLY what will be expected of you, what the bugs are like, and the description of the volunteer's RV site. DO NOT RELY JUST ON THE GENERIC WEBSITE LISTING.

RE: The cats told me!!!

I would hope you will check your "sticky trap" often and humanely dispatch the critter rather than let it die a lingering death. Oh, please! It is a rat.

RE: Non Poop Pickin-up

If her dog poops on your site, be nice at first and ask her not to allow her dog to eliminate on your site. If that doesn't work, then pick up the poop, and drop it out of the bag directly onto her RV steps! Now if the dog is pooping in an open area that is NOT part of your site, then MYOB (mind your own business) as it is the responsibility of park management to enforce their rules, if it even is one of their rules.

RE: Trailer burned to ground

If your neighbor only has property damage insurance on his camper, relying on his homeowners liability to extend to the campsite, you may find that the coverage will not extend to your damage. Also, liability is for something the insured does WRONG. If your neighbor did nothing wrong to cause the fire, he may not be liable. If lightening stuck your neighbor's trailer and caused the fire, then he is in no way responsible for your damage. If a healthy, well cared-for tree that is on my property falls and damages my neighbor's property, I am not liable. Now if that tree was not healthy, has a dangerous branch that was destined to fall and I took no corrective action, then I am liable.

RE: Dodge GPS

First, cross posting is against forum rules. Second, a built in unit, when it fails or becomes obsolete, will be difficult to repair and impossible to replace. Third, for the price of the built in unit, you can buy two high end units with more features. Fourth, updates are easier with the hand held unit. Fifth, the hand held unit is more versatile, so you can take it with you after you park for your hiking trip. Sixth, save your money, buy the hand held unit.

RE: Hensley Arrow Right For Us or Too Complicated?

A very interesting thing about the Hensley- it seems that the only people who say bad things about it are the ones who have never used it, and therefore are really not qualified to comment. I have one and can tell you it is ultimate hitch, period. And since I have used the other popular set ups as well, I AM QUALIFIED TO COMMENT. The learning curve regarding hook up and unhooking is greater than a regular hitch, and the cost is significantly more than most other hitches. It out-performs the other hitches to the extent that comparison is difficult. It would be like a leading NFL team playing against the worst high school team! You would be well served with the Hensley, and it will make your towing experience much more enjoyable and stress free. It is expensive, but when money is well spent, the result is appreciated. You may find that the Hensley will make a marginal towing experience where you are uncomfortable, hense not wanting to take your trips, into towing that is fun and you are anxious to hitch up and go.

RE: New 5er tires.(observation).

So far, I have been able to avoid Chinese tires on all of my rolling stock except my wheelbarrow. But I doubt that trend will continue. Most consumers don't learn about the Chinese tires until it is too late, and the manufacturers don't care unless the dealers, not consumers, make an issue.

RE: Is DirecTV worth it?

I wouldn't be without my Directv, but then I enjoy the news shows. There is a learning curve with the set up procedure, but it is doable, even for a non techie person. You can hook it up to your cable hook up on the RV IF it does not have any splitters, and is the heavier RG59 cable. Worst case scenario, you will have to make another connection for the satellite connection which is about the easiest modification you can do. You can buy the dish and LNB from Walmart, Ebay, and many independent satellite providers. The tripod you can buy from many RV suppliers. The receiver you have may or may not work. I would just get one from Directv and be done with it.

RE: I'm bummed........

The vinyl floor covering is nice- just sweep it out. However, if you want carpet, that is an easy install from a third party automotive uphosltery shop. The dealer will have contacts, get them to install and split the ACTUAL cost. No big deal.

RE: LCD tv reception

If you just bought the TV, I am sure it came with an owner's manual. I suggest you read it for answers to your questions.

RE: Dexter Never-Lube Bearings

I ordered my trailer with them and it was a wise choice. The bearings are actually a cartridge that has a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty. Dexter still claims that the hubs have to come off yearly to check the brakes, but I think that is juts a CYA notice. Mine have never been off, and my trailer is a 2005 model. THE BRAKES WORK GREAT, AND THE BEARINGS CANNOT BE LUBED, SO LEAVE IT ALONE.

RE: Uniroyal Laredo AWP sidewalls cracking...

These tires may have 4000 miles on them.. That is your problem. The tires sat much more than they were used. The oils that protect the tires from dry rotting much migrate out and that happens as the tire rolls with wait on it.

RE: 08 Ram 2500 CTD Recall>>>>Anyone Else??

In the past I've usually gotten recall notices in the mail, and I thought it was weird that the service guy call me. If you just bought the truck, the recall notice was mailed to the dealer to perform on his stock. The records probably were not updated in time for the recall notice to be mailed directly to you.
